Hey! Welcome to The Polished Playhouse. I’m Nicole and this is my little home on the internet where I inspire moms to make memories without the mess. While pregnant with my son one of my fondest memories was designing a simple little nursery for him. Think 4ft. gold letters and a white shag rug. Like I said, simple lol. Perhaps not simple, but certainly minimalistic. There wasn’t a lot of “stuff.” I wanted it to be a calm and inviting space that would transition with him through different stages. Que the controversy. People just could not believe I would put a white rug in the nursery of a baby boy. But, why not?
For as long as I can remember I have always loved interior design. I love mixing and matching pieces to create spaces that speak to who I am. I didn’t think becoming a mom would have to change that. Naive? Perhaps. I also come from a preschool background and know first hand that little people can get real messy…real quick. But, it was important for me to engage my son in play-based learning at home. I knew this meant we would need “stuff.” Messy stuff. So, what’s a mom to do? This question is what inspired my blog, and thus The Polished Playhouse was born.
Through my blog, I hope to encourage playful learning for children while still maintaining a home that an adult can be proud of. Here you will find child-centered design ideas, early learning activities, DIY projects, and product recommendations. I will also be sharing my experience as a mom living in the nation’s capital. It is my hope that you will visit often and most importantly find something here that is useful for you and your family. I look forward to engaging with you as we work together to keep our playhouses polished.
Let’s chat! If there’s something you’d love to see here let me know. You can find me on social media (linked in the header) and via email at contact@polishedplayhouse.com
